He thanks me and she turns to go but I only tighten my hold on her. The moment he’s out of earshot, I pin her with a fierce look. “You’re coming home with me. Now.”

“There’s nothing to say.” Why does she look like a damn deer in the headlights? She can’t honestly be surprised that I want to talk. I know that night was not only the hottest but the most special one of my life. But more than that, I know she felt the chemistry and passion between us.

“Well, then you can listen,” I answer as I grip her upper arm and march us toward the truck. I open the passenger door and gesture for her to get in, pausing to swat her ass. It’s dark out and no one can see us. But I don’t care even if they could. She’s my woman and I’m her man.

Her sharp intake of breath has me ready to come in my pants. She made that exact noise the first moment I thrust into her. It’s burned into my brain—the way she looked with her lips slightly parted and the soft exhale that feathered across my skin, more intimate than any touch.

The drive back to my place should only take ten minutes. We make it in three and I have to will myself to keep my hands off of her. What I want more than anything is to pull her into my lap and kiss her right now. But we have things to settle first.

The moment the truck stops, she’s out like a rocket. She streaks up to the door and inside the house. I take slow, measured steps after her. A predator seeking prey. She’s come too close and now that she’s in my sights, I’ll feast on her every night. I’ll have her under my body, over my face, and bent against the living room couch.

There’s not a room I won’t take her in or a position we won’t try. I’ll make love to her sweet and slow. I’ll fuck her hard and fast. But I’ll never, ever stop wrenching those beautiful cries from her body.

She’s going to know every day for the rest of her life that she’s mine. I’ll be in her so often that she’ll feel empty every time my cock isn’t inside her tight cunt. Yeah, we’re going to have a nice long talk then a fast dirty fuck.

Journey

Don’t cry. Don’t cry. I repeat the mantra to myself as I shove the few pieces of clothing I left strewn out into a plastic bag. I didn’t really think things were turning around, did I?

It figures I’d find a brother that cares about me then immediately betray him by sleeping with his best friend. Derek’s words from earlier float through my head. Did she ever talk about me? Miss me or anything?

If he knows, he’ll think I chose his best friend over him. Just like my mom chose me over him. I still don’t understand how she made that decision. How do you choose between your kids? How do you choose which one is strong enough to stay behind and endure more abuse?

“What in the hell do you think you’re doing?”

I startle at Cam’s voice but refuse to face him. It’ll be easier to have this conversation if I’m not looking at him. “I’ll be out of your hair in just a few minutes. There’s a car on the way.”

“Cancel it,” he grinds out. “You’re not going anywhere.”

“I can’t stay here.” I gesture around the room but still refuse to look at him. I don’t want to stay here and listen while he brings other women home. Just last night, he was out looking to hook up with a woman. That’s what Derek said.

He crosses the room. His hands go to my shoulders, and he turns my body to face him. “You can, and you will. That’s final.”

I shouldn’t like that deep growling tone or the way it makes my panties wet. Images from our night together play in my mind, a dirty movie that’s never far from my thoughts. “Look, I don’t want to be here. I know I was just a notch on your bed post and—”

He puts his thumb against my lips, not letting me finish my sentence. Fire flashes in his gaze. “Don’t you dare make that night out like it was a cheap hookup. It was the best night of my life.”

Hope blooms in my heart but I immediately crush it. “If I meant so much, why were you out looking for a hookup last night? Derek told me where you were.”

He frowns then his gaze clears. “Because I’ve been going out every night I have off searching for you. I sit at the Charging Bull and look at everyone who comes in. Then I go and sit at the hotel and see if you’re there. I couldn’t find you any-fucking-where and it’s been driving me insane.”
