“Your other option is that you can scream and draw attention and make a scene, but there’s a car waiting just beyond that exit.” I nod to the one behind me. “The door to the car is open and the driver is behind the wheel. By the time your family runs to save you, I’ll already have you in the backseat and over my knee.”

She swallows hard, and I take a second to look at her lush lips and how they’re parted with anticipation as I press every hard inch into her soft curves. I’m trying to play this cool, but with her so close I lose all sense of sanity.

“It’s up to you, baby girl. Which one is it going to be?”

I lean down with my lips only a breath from hers. I feel her hands on my chest as she slides them up to my shoulders and pulls me close. She’s so warm, and the scent of roses wraps around me like summers spent in a meadow. I close my eyes as her lips graze my jaw and up to my ear.

“I’ll do it the hard way,” she whispers—right before she knees me in the balls.

Chapter 2

Amber

Henrik’s hold on my arm tightens as he leans over in pain. “What the hell!” I hiss at him. He shoots me a look that has me taking a step back. He’s pissed, and I’ve never seen him this angry before.

“You’re going to pay for that,” he grits out through his clenched teeth.

“I thought you’d block it.” I jerk my arm back, breaking from his hold.

“You better run, little girl.”

My heart starts to race, and I stand there for a moment like a deer caught in headlights. He begins to straighten, and my body finally catches up with my brain. I turn and run, heading down a long hallway as my heels echo loudly on the floor. When I push open a door that leads outside, I quickly kick them off. I can’t resist looking back over my shoulder, and the sight makes me gasp. Henrik is already turning the corner, and his eyes lock with mine. He still has that angry look on his face, and I squeal, taking off.

Why do I feel guilty? I’ve been trying to make him angry since the moment we met. That’s the point of half the crap I do. It’s a game we play, and I think he enjoys it as much as I do, but maybe this time I’ve gone too far.

The door closes behind me, but it bangs open a second later. He’s gaining on me.

I run along the side of the house, turning at the end. Up ahead I spot one of the gardens we took pictures in earlier, and I smile. It’s a perfect place to hide, and maybe I can lose him in there and slip out while he’s trying to find me.

My pulse spikes when I think of Allison, and then I wonder if Magnus already got to her.

It doesn’t matter. If he does have her, I’ll jump on a flight to get her back. He’s not the only person with access to a private plane. For all I know he could have been bluffing, but I don’t think Henrik would lie to me. The man is straightforward about everything, including how much he wants me.

When I get to the edge of the garden, I stop and scan the grounds. In the distance I see one of the paths from earlier and take it. I hurry through the hedges and wind my way into the shadows so I can’t be seen. I don’t hear anything as I come to the end of a long row of flowers and stop. As if he’s been waiting on me the whole time, Henrik steps out and tucks his hands into his pockets and gives me a smug look.

“Looking for me?”

With one last ditch effort, I take off running again, but it’s useless. The stones on the path are slippery, and my feet come out from under me. Just before I land, Henrik scoops me up and turns me in his arms. There’s still a part of me that wants to fight, and as he pulls me closer, I try to spin out of his hold. But it’s no use. His grip is immovable, and I let out a long breath, tired from the physical exertion of running.

“I really thought you would block it,” I blurt out, but he ignores me.

He looks at me with the most intense stare right before his lips come down onto mine. He claims my mouth as his tongue demands entrance. I’m only so strong, and when I moan, I let him have what he wants. My treacherous legs don’t even put up a fight as they wrap around his waist.
