Criminal defense attorney Ember Thorne thought the biggest challenge of her life would be her quest to navigate the justice system on behalf of the wrongly accused. That is, until she finds herself in the sights of an otherworldly evil, desperately hunting what she cannot kill, not yet, at least. Nothing in her life, or in this world, is what it seems, and when a blue-eyed stranger named Micah saves her life, their attraction is the fire that could become the death of all that exists or the salvation that blooms with new hope for all. Micah, royalty in his own right, will challenge her to stand against evil, but when you have never known true evil, can you really recognize it where it hides?
In a world where angels and demons are the truth humans call fiction, could it be a lie between lovers that equals salvation? Or is that lie the blade that delivers devastation?
Ember and Ash, the first book in the Thorne Saga, introduces you to a world filled with the magic of angels and the darkness of the monsters they hunt, where secrets and lies, and a passionate forbidden romance hold world-altering consequences

Glossary
Nephilim War : When the Fallen were cast to live amongst mankind, there was a great war and battle for control. It raged only twenty human years before distraction allowed the demons to run free, and peace or destruction was forced upon the Nephilim.
Select Parliament: The ruling body of the Nephilim. When the war ended and peace was upon the Nephilim, eleven leaders from all regions around the world sat on the council.
The Select: Parliament members.
Sovereign Select: Voted in during a lengthy process every one hundred years. The Sovereign Select is the highest power of the Nephilim.
Kingdom of the Fallen: Located on an island in the Indian Ocean that is cloaked by a powerful spellcast. The water helps protect them from demon attacks.
Nephilim: Descendants of fallen angels tasked with protecting humanity for all of eternity. Are only winged in the Nephilim realm. In the human realm, they are not.
Seer: Another word for Nephilim, able to see demons no matter what their form.
Bedrock: A lineage of Nephilim that are the commoners, but no less committed to their role to protect mankind. They either live amongst humans and blend in and are alert to threats, or they work in one of the garrisons across the world.
Blue Blood: The ruling class of Nephilim, those born into lineages that include the Parliament members and legendary warriors. They are the only Nephilim who still possess wings, which they can disguise at will.
Crystal Seer: No more than a few remain in existence and roam the earth. They are considered the greatest warriors in existence—the most powerful weapon to defend both Nephilim and mankind. There is a Crystal Seer in each domain who is the Overseer.
Gilded Warriors, or simply the Gilded: The army of the Nephilim. To earn your place in the Gilded Warriors, one must attend the Gilded University and survive the Gilded Fray.
The Fray: Extremely dangerous test to discover if a Bedrock is ready to be a Gilded Warrior.
Domains: Regions across the human realm that are guarded and protected by an Overseer. There are eight domains, each with its own Overseer.
Garrison: An operation center and training facility within a domain. Garrisons are underground, where demons cannot track humans or Nephilim.
Rift: The ability to move from one location to another in the blink of an eye.
Familiar: An animal unique to each Crystal Seer and part of their power.
Overseer: The leader of a domain and its community. Chosen from the ranks of warriors and the Select’s offspring by the council themselves and through combat when a challenge exists. The competition is called the Blood Squall.
Demons: There are many types of demons. All have different weaknesses. Even fabled creatures like werewolves and vampires are actually demons, but there are many others humans have never discovered.
The River of Amherst: A magical river that runs through the hidden city of Amherst in Italy, near the coastline. This is in the eighth domain under one of the most powerful of Overseers and Crystal Seers, Kai.
The Diviner of Amherst: A prophet who is highly sought after but rarely offers counsel.
Lighthouses: Demons hate light and water, and a lighthouse is a shelter many seek.
The Judgement Tree: It is in the Kingdom of Nephilim and possesses the ability to give anyone who touches it a gift or a curse based on the assessment of their character. It is used by Parliament in judgements. The tree is the only way a human may become Nephilim, but the risk is grave. A leaf is laid upon the human’s tongue, and judgement is issued: life or death. Its full powers are never understood.
