“That’s enough, Mr. Daniels,” orders a police officer who pulls Logan off the near-unconscious man he’s been beating into a pulp. “We need him alive.” Logan falls back, out of breath, his hands bloodied, as my assailant is dragged off by a uniformed officer. Meanwhile, I can see my boyfriend’s piercingly blue eyes dart around in panic, searching for me.

“Logan!” I cry out, tears springing to my eyes. As soon as the billionaire sets eyes on me, he’s on his feet, rushing to my side while taking off his shirt to shield my nakedness.

“Jasmine,” he growls, his muscular arms enveloping me and holding me against him. I close my eyes in relief as I listen to his heart hammering in his chest. “Are you okay?” he asks. “Did those fuckers hurt you?”

“No,” I whisper, shaking my head. “I’m fine.”

“They didn’t -” he starts.

“No,” I shake my head again. “Almost, but it didn’t happen. You got here just in time. You’re my savior.”

The alpha male looks down into my eyes as he cups my face. He’s still trembling from adrenaline, but it only adds to the intensity of the concern and adoration that’s radiating from his big form. It’s love for me, and I can feel it as certain as I can feel the damp earth beneath my feet. My heart swells as I place my hands on his, ignoring the commotion of the inmates being handcuffed and dragged into a vehicle that has just arrived, to cart them back off to the prison.

“Thank you, Logan,” I whisper.

“No,” he growls, his teeth setting. “I should have gotten here sooner. I’m sorry.”

“Don’t say that,” I murmur, “because you saved me.”

He drops his dark head for a moment, looking anguished.

“I don’t know what I would have done if something had happened to you, Jasmine,” he rasps. “You mean everything to me, and this incident has crystallized everything that’s been swirling around in my brain. I love you, baby girl. I know it. I can feel it. It’s been this way for a while now.” My heart explodes into a thousand velvet-winged butterflies as my eyes well up.

“I know,” I say in a soft voice, gazing into his blue-eyed stare as I squeeze his hands. “I love you too, Logan.”

He chokes a bit at my words, still looking anguished.

“When you were carried off and I couldn’t find you,” he begins, his voice grating at the memory, “I had flashes of what life would be like without you. And I never want to be without you, not ever.”

“Then don’t be,” I whisper. “Let’s never be without each other.”

Logan nods, his hands still cupping my face, and he inclines his head.

“Do you promise?”

I nod gently as my eyes overflow with tears. After all, we’re both in shock right now. We survived a prison break, and I was almost assaulted by a gang of violent inmates. But Logan came to my rescue, and even more, this situation has clarified our feelings for each other. We adore one another, and will always be committed to the health, safety, and well-being of our partner. I nod, adoration in my eyes.

“I promise, Logan. We’ll always be together.”

Then, as our lips lock, the alpha male pours all of his emotions into his kiss: Love. Passion. Dedication. Eternity.

EPILOGUE

Jasmine

I sigh deeply, a smile of intense satisfaction spreading across my features as Logan pulls me close to that hard, bronzed chest. After all, we just made love and are now lying in each other’s arms, in that comfortable, hazy place between sleep and wakefulness as he strokes my hair.

“Are you happy, sweetheart?” Logan growls down at me. I snuggle closer before looking up at him with adoring eyes.

“Very much so.”

We relax, treasuring this peace, because it took a couple of weeks to process what happened at Ardsley Correctional Facility. The chain of events was shocking. It turns out that Dad had, in fact, known about the prison break, even though he wasn’t taking part in it. That was why Willy was so jumpy the day we visited. He already feels guilty at having failed me by being in prison in the first place, and I know he’s now dealing with even more guilt at my kidnapping. I don’t think Willy knows about the near-rape, and I’d like to keep it that way for his sanity, as well as mine. After all, he’s still stuck there and won’t be getting out anytime soon.

But for now, I won’t going back to visit him either. All the escaped inmates are back behind bars, and I don’t want to risk the chance of seeing them again. Who would? But when we raised it with prison staff, they clarified that the escapees have been transferred to a high-security prison, and there’s no chance of a run-in. Still, I don’t want to risk it.
